Also, a bit scary.

image from Facebook launched Frendship Pages to allow users to follow interactions between two other Facebok friends. Friendship pages include public Wall posts and comments between the two, photos in which both are tagged, events they RSVP’d for together and more. Users can see a friendship page if they are friends with one of the people and have permission to view both people’s profiles.  Imagine what a social savvy musicians and their fans can do with Facebook Friendship Pages:

  • A musician could friend a fan and their fan community could follow the interactions.

  • Interactions between two band members can be shared publicly.

  • A fan could follow the interactions of just their two favorite band members.

  • Two fans could build excitement for an upcoming show or release together.

  • Imagine a scavenger hunt with clues shared between two friends…

Facebook Places

Checking up on a friend becomes checking in on a friend.

Starting today, you can immediately tell people about that favorite spot with Facebook Places. You can share where you are and the friends you’re with in real time from your mobile device.

You have the option to share your location by “checking in” to that place and letting friends know where you are. You can easily see if any of your friends have also chosen to check in nearby.

To get started, you’ll need the most recent version of the Facebook application for iPhone. You also can access Places from if your mobile browser supports HTML 5 and geolocation.

Go to Places on the iPhone application or site and then tap the “Check In” button. You’ll see a list of places near you. Choose the place that matches where you are. If it’s not on the list, search for it or add it. After checking in, your check-in will create a story in your friends’ News Feeds and show up in the Recent Activity section on the page for that place.

Places is only available in the United States right now. But we expect to make it available to more countries and on additional mobile platforms soon.

With Places, you are in control of what you share and the people you share with. You choose whether or not to share your location when you check in at a place. When you check in, you can tag friends who are with you but only if their settings allow it. When you are tagged, you are always notified.

When your friends check you in, it is as if you have checked in at that place yourself. You also will appear checked-in to your friends. If you do not allow friends to check you in, then when they tag you at a place, your name will appear in the same way it appears in a tagged status update. You will not appear checked-in at that place.
